We Be Teachin' Ebonics

Ebonics -- the ridiculous ghetto "slanguage" championed by Oakland's fool school district in the '90s -- could be poised for a comeback in San Bernardino.

"Ebonics is a different language, it's not slang as many believe," said Mary Texeira, a sociology professor at Cal State San Bernardino. "For many of these students Ebonics is their language, and it should be considered a foreign language. These students should be taught like other students who speak a foreign language."

Oddly, Texeira is half right: Students who don't speak English properly should all be taught the same way. Unfortunately, her Rx is wrong. What these students need is English-immersion classes.

Ebonics is the exact opposite of what California's ill-spoken black students need -- it's an official shove into the gutter. And who better to poison a new generation than the politically correct left? This is one game at which the sensitive socialists clearly excel.

San Fran Sicko,

Perhaps you should consider taking some of those classes?

You sound like a complete and utter jackass who frankly, is the exact type that is holding our great country back.

Grow up.
